Small business tips

Here's some tips for your small business:

Make sure your business comes across as professional, this can range from anything from your product photography to making sure you have business cards.

Make your photos as professional as you can, make sure the background is clean and plain and make sure there is good lighting - take photos by a window that has a lot of natural light coming through so that the true colour and details of your item can be seen.

Business cards need to be good quality and provide all vital information, including shop name, social media links and where they can buy your wares.

Listen to customer feedback and try to incorporate suggested changes into your business so that you can make your customers happy. Although some customers can be pushing their requests a bit far and want the moon even though they just ordered a necklace...

Make sure you have an Instagram page, Facebook page and even a Twitter page (if that's your thing). This can help widen your audience and Instagram especially is a good one as its a visual community where your product images can be really shown off.

Every now and again hold giveaways or sales or give out special discount codes or coupons online. Even include discount coupons in with orders that you send out as this can encourage repeat buying. And like they say; new customers are important but keeping old ones is even more important.

Encourage customers to leave reviews, spread the word with their friends and post images of their items on social media to further your audience. Good feedback is always a way to keep gaining customers.

When you reach certain amounts of sales; ie. when you reach your target of 50 sales. Be sure to thank all your customers via social media by creating a thank you post, stating how much each sale means to you etc.

Ask other businesses to promote your business and vice-versa. This is one of the best ways to gain new followers and potentially new customers.

Include handwritten notes in with orders, this adds a personal touch and will make the customer want to come back for more.
